PTE exam fee in India
Choose India in the fee finder if that is where you will sit the test, even if you are applying to an Australian institution. A destination country and a test location are different choices. Use the rupee price for your booking budget.
PTE exam fee in Australia
Choose Australia for an appointment there. The A$ symbol means Australian dollars. When comparing options, add the cost of reaching the centre and any overnight stay before deciding that a different location is cheaper.
Does the displayed price include GST?
The fee cards inspected for this article show a price and currency without a separate tax explanation. Use the final checkout total and invoice to confirm the tax treatment. Do not automatically add a tax percentage to the displayed figure or combine it with an older base-price breakdown.
PTE reschedule fee: when can you move a test for free?
Pearson's rescheduling policy allows a free change when more than 14 full calendar days remain before the test, with a maximum of six reschedules per appointment. At 14 days or less, rescheduling is unavailable: you must cancel and book again.
That makes “reschedule fee” an incomplete description of a late change. The cost depends on the refund for the original appointment and the price of the replacement. Check both before cancelling.
PTE cancellation fee and refund deadlines
Pearson's refund policy measures the time remaining when you cancel against your booked test time:
| Time remaining | Refund | Fee lost |
|---|---|---|
| More than 14 days | 100% | 0% |
| 14 days or less, but more than 7 days | 50% | 50% |
| 7 days or less | 0% | 100% |
Exactly 14 days falls in the 50% bracket. Exactly 7 days falls in the no-refund bracket. Check the appointment time as well as the date. A calendar reminder for “two weeks before” can be too late for a full refund.
Worked examples: the cost of cancelling and booking again
These examples assume you paid the listed standard fee directly, receive the standard refund and book a replacement at the same price. They exclude travel, payment-provider charges, vouchers and special exceptions. A price change would alter the calculation.
| Cancellation timing | India | Australia |
|---|---|---|
| 20 days before | ₹18,900 | A$499 |
| 10 days before | ₹28,350 | A$748.50 |
| 5 days before | ₹37,800 | A$998 |
For the 10-day India example: ₹18,900 paid − ₹9,450 refunded + ₹18,900 for the new booking = ₹28,350. The extra cost compared with keeping the first appointment is ₹9,450.
For Australia, the same calculation is A$499 − A$249.50 + A$499 = A$748.50. The table shows your total net exam spend, not just the amount due when you book again. You may need to fund the replacement before a refund reaches your account.
If you are still eligible to reschedule, compare that option before cancelling. Avoid creating a second paid booking simply because you have not found the change option in your account.
How to check the fee and book the right appointment
- Confirm the test name. Check the exact test and scores required by the organisation receiving your result. Our Australia PTE score guide explains common requirements.
- Choose your test location. Open Pearson's fee finder, select the country and use the test-centre link for PTE Academic.
- Find an appointment. Follow the availability search, select a centre, date and time, and continue through myPTE.
- Check your identity details. Match your account to the accepted ID you will present. Read Pearson's linked ID policy if you are unsure which document is accepted.
- Review before paying. Check the test name, location, date, currency, total and cancellation terms. Save the confirmation and payment record.
Pearson's official booking walkthrough explains account creation, payment and confirmation. MocksPTE provides practice; your official appointment is booked with Pearson.
Plan the full cost, including preparation and another attempt
Build a small budget around the appointment you can actually attend. Start with these four lines:
- Exam: the amount confirmed at checkout.
- Travel: return transport, parking and accommodation if needed.
- Preparation: any optional course, tutoring or practice material you choose.
- Contingency: money available if you need another appointment.
For a simple planning example, suppose an India booking costs ₹18,900, your return travel costs ₹800 and you choose ₹0 of paid preparation. Your planned spend is ₹19,700. Those travel and preparation amounts are illustrative choices, not Pearson charges.
Separate the budget from the study decision. Before choosing an exam date, try a timed PTE mock test and review errors by task. If you repeatedly run out of writing time or miss sentence endings in listening, schedule practice for that specific issue.
Use our four-week PTE study plan to organise those sessions and the PTE Academic format guide to check the tasks. A practice score helps you monitor progress, but cannot guarantee your official result or remove the possibility of another paid attempt.
What to check before using a PTE voucher or discount code
Pearson's booking instructions provide a step for entering a voucher or promo code. A code found online is not proof that it will work for your appointment.
Before buying a voucher, check the test version, country, expiry date and seller's refund terms. Compare the final payable total rather than the advertised saving. Keep your receipt and the terms that applied when you paid. This article does not advertise an unverified code or assume that a discounted purchase follows the same refund calculation as a full-price direct booking.
What if illness or Pearson changes your appointment?
For illness or a family emergency, Pearson may allow a free reschedule after reviewing evidence. Its emergency rescheduling policy requires a request as soon as you know about the emergency and no later than 72 hours after the appointment. Approval is discretionary.
If Pearson cancels or reschedules the test, the same policy provides for a refund or an alternative date or centre. Follow Pearson's message about your specific appointment.
